Zocodover.com ("we," "us," "our") is an independent travel guide to Toledo, Spain. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the role our affiliate partners play — in plain language, without the usual legal fog.
Zocodover.com is a content-only travel guide. We don't run user accounts, and we don't process any payments or bookings directly on this site — every booking happens on our partners' own websites (Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Civitatis, and similar). Because of that, the information we collect directly is limited to:
- Email address, if you voluntarily sign up for our newsletter using the form on this site.
- Messages you send us, if you email us directly (for example, corrections, tips, or questions).
- Basic technical data that's automatically generated by visiting any website, such as your browser type, approximate location (city/country level), and the pages you view. We do not currently run analytics software on this site; if that changes, we'll update this section to say what we've added and why.
The hotel search tool on our homepage does not collect or store the dates or guest details you enter — it simply uses them to build a search link that opens on Booking.com's own site.
We use the limited information described above only to:
- Send newsletter updates, if you've subscribed — you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
- Respond to messages you send us.
- Understand, in general terms, how people use the site, so we can improve it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your email address with our booking partners. Any data those partners collect happens separately, on their own sites, once you click through to them.
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies
This site itself sets minimal cookies. However, once you click a link to one of our booking or ticketing partners, that partner's own website may set cookies in your browser — including affiliate-tracking cookies, described in the next section. If we add analytics or advertising tools to Zocodover.com in the future, we'll describe exactly what they do here before or as we introduce them.
4. Affiliate Links and Partner Cookies
In short: Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click through and make a booking, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you, and it never changes what we recommend.
Zocodover.com participates in affiliate partner programs, including with Booking.com, GetYourGuide, and Civitatis, and we may add other travel partners over time. These programs work through affiliate networks such as CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction) and Awin.
When you click an affiliate link, the partner's website sets a tracking cookie that tells them your visit came from Zocodover.com. If you go on to book a hotel, activity, or ticket — sometimes even on a later visit, within the cookie's tracking window — we may receive a commission from that partner. Cookie durations vary by partner and are typically anywhere from 24 hours to 30 days.
This tracking is handled entirely by the partner and the affiliate network, not by us — we don't see your payment details, and we don't control what cookies they set. You can review each partner's own privacy policy for details on their data practices:
5. Third-Party Websites
This site links to a number of third-party websites for booking and practical information — including Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Civitatis, Renfe, and ALSA. We don't control these sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices. We'd encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site before providing personal information or completing a booking.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the limited information we hold (such as newsletter email addresses) from unauthorized access. That said, no method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
Zocodover.com is a general-audience travel guide and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll remove it.
8. Your Rights
If you're located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar data protection laws, you generally have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Ask us to delete your information (for example, removing you from our newsletter list).
- Object to or restrict certain uses of your information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. Because we hold very little personal data in the first place (mainly newsletter email addresses), most requests can be handled quickly.
9. International Visitors
Zocodover.com is based in Spain and this policy is written with visitors from around the world in mind. If you access the site from outside Spain, be aware that any information you provide to us may be processed in Spain or wherever our email/newsletter service provider stores data.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we add analytics tools, new affiliate partners, or other features that change how information is handled. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Significant changes will be noted here for at least one review cycle.
